Car Features To Lookout For Before Buying A New Set Of Wheels

car features to lookout for before buying a new set of wheels (1)

A couple of years may have passed since you bought yourself a new car and there are always new and exciting innovations that come up almost every year so it can get a little overwhelming when trying to select the best features that will suit you, your needs and the car model you decide to choose.

When purchasing a car, a number of customers don’t only look at the price and make of the car, they also look at what’s under the hood. Car features can be classified into different categories such as features for car safety, ones that enhance convenience in the car, comfort of the occupants and features that improve the car’s connectivity. With that being said, let’s have a look at some of the features you should consider having in your car.

Blind Spot Monitoring

This is one of those safety features that is important to have for various reasons. When driving, it’s important that you can clearly see everything that’s around you such as oncoming cars, pedestrians crossing the road, cyclists or bikers and so on but again it can be difficult to see everything.

You may have been in a situation where you wanted to change lanes or overtake and when you checked your side mirrors and rear view it seemed as if the coast was clear but just when you are about to dip into the new lane a car emerges from nowhere. This is where your blind spot alert system comes in handy as it can save you from getting into serious problems. Most of these systems may either alert you visually or you will get an audible notification.

Head-up Display

This feature, also known as HUD, is a transparent display that presents information without requiring users to shift their focus from their viewpoint. Now this feature many drivers will appreciate having it in their car as we can all agree that it’s an awesome invention. It uses your car’s windscreen to display critical information such as speed, fuel levels, directions and more.

You can also access your entertainment system on the screen such as your audio, reducing the need for accessing it directly.  Most high end vehicles come with this technology but you can buy an aftermarket system for most vehicles at a reasonable price. Having more focus and fewer distractions when driving contributes to road safety hence why this can be considered as a must have for your car.

Bluetooth Connection and WIFI Hotspot

In today’s first moving society, staying connected is a plus. Let’s say you have to be on the move but you still want to communicate or stay in touch with a colleague or family member. That is made possible with a Bluetooth system plus you can do it handsfree without having to hold your phone to your ear. When it comes to browsing, you can turn on your data and browse freely but that can cost you quite a lot of money.

Therefore, the most efficient way to browse is connecting to WIFI. Just like some public spaces offer free WIFI, some of today’s cars come with WIFI hotspots of their own. In the case where you have an older car, you can get your car fitted with an aftermarket Bluetooth system at a reasonable price.

USB Fast Charging Outlets

This feature is a must for most people. This is especially perfect for those people who are always on the go and they spend a number of hours in their car moving from one place to another. There is nothing annoying as getting that low battery notification especially if you are a distance away from getting home not to mention having your phone on is also super important.

A lot of new cars have now started including USB ports that you can plug into, and not just one but several ones. Having enough USB charging outlets makes it convenient for you to plug in all your devices without having to wait for one device to get full first. Alternatively, you could buy aftermarket chargers which you can get at department stores or at the petrol station. So before you buy that car, ensure it has enough USB charging outlets.

Keyless entry

For some of you, it’s been a while since you used a key to access your car. If you are not part of this group, then you should consider shifting sides. A lot of cars come with this particular feature but regardless of that make sure that you confirm the one you have chosen does. With the help of a remote, you can easily open your car’s doors with a simple push of a button. You could also open up your trunk while approaching your car making it easy for you to load up or remove any luggage you may have.

Home Assist Device Connectivity

Thanks to technology, you can connect any of your devices to the rest of your home. No matter where you might be, you are able to turn on the lights, lock the front door, and more even before you enter the premises. Technology such as Amazon Alexa allows you to improve your home’s security.

Other nice features include a 360 degree camera system, heated seats and steering wheel, parking sensors, rear entertainment systems and a navigation system.
